First 5 Glenn County Board of Commission bases its decision on what projects or events to fund:

Community needs being addressed
Community resources being used
Outreach to diverse community members

Special consideration is given to the equitable distribution of all communities and partners serving children birth to five and pregnant women and families.

What Can Be FundedTop of Page

The following groups are eligible for potential leveraging of funding with the vote of the Commission:

Community groups
Civic organizations
Social organizations
County Agencies

First 5 Glenn County funding is for locally-driven projects or events that do at least one of the following:

Increase community knowledge about early childhood development
Increase community resources available to benefit children ages 0 to 5 and their families
Encourage children ages 0 to 5 and their parents to spend quality time together
Provide opportunities for community skill-building (education or training) for parents or others who benefit children ages 0 to 5 and their families
Promote community gatherings, events or celebrations that have a positive impact on the community on behalf of children ages 0 to 5 and their families
Address First Five Glenn County's overall mission serving in the capacity of Health, Nutrition and Dental, Literacy, Community Strengthening, Family Strengthening, School Preparedness and Preschool Skill building related to the Protective Factors, and prevention of Bullying and Child Abuse.

What Cannot Be FundedTop of Page

First 5 Glenn County does not fund the following:

Religious activities that include worship, instructions or proselytization
Capital improvements to an individual's home
Direct assistance to individuals
Existing obligations or retroactive funding for costs already incurred
Fundraising
Political campaigns
